About Us

The Anglican Church of the Messiah was formed by the All Saints Anglican Church, Hyattsville, Maryland as part of its mission outreach to the larger Community in the Washington, DC / suburban Maryland area. The first Sunday worship was conducted on June 2, 2019 by the Rt. Rev. Dr. Adedokun Adewunmi assisted by The Revd. Canon (now Ven.) Tunde Shabi and The Revd. (now Revd. Canon Dr.) Kayode Owolabi at the Meeting House, Columbia, Maryland, with Mrs. Modupe Adewunmi (then Mama Region 3), Mrs. Bunmi Shabi, Mrs. Dunni Owolabi and a delegation of some parishioners from All saints Anglican Church, Hyattsville, who formed the nucleus of the new mission congregation. Regular Sunday worship attendance was about 15. The Meeting House is home to the Oakland Mills Interfaith congregations and is located at 5885 Robert Oliver Place, Columbia, MD. At the Meeting House, we were only able to hold services from 8:00-9:00am because of the needs of the other four congregations who preceded us there. Hence, to accede to the yearning of our budding congregation for a more traditional time for Sunday morning worship, we relocated to another venue—North Laurel Community Center, 9411 Whiskey Bottom Road, Laurel, MD 20723, on November 3, 2019, where we have been able to hold Sunday morning worship services at 10:00 am. The North Laurel Community Center is one of Howard County Government's newest community centers, built to serve the southeastern portion of the county. The regular average church attendance grew from 15 to 25 to the Glory of God.

Effective, Sunday, April 2, 2023, our new worship space is on the premises of the Filipino American Capital SDA Church, located at: 4216 Powder Mill Road, Beltsville, MD 20705, USA.
